The hilarious "Hot Flash Comedy Tour" (19+ event), featuring Syd Bosel and Helen Schneiderman, comes to The Bailey Theatre for International Women's Day weekend on Friday, March 7 at 7:30 pm.

Syd Bosel is a stand-up comedian who spins hilarious and relatable tales of “adult” children, being married for 1,000 years, surviving breast cancer, and other glories of nature. With loads of accolades Syd was voted “Best of the Fest” at the Nanaimo Fringe Festival in 2023 and got “four yesses” in CTV’s Canada’s Got Talent and you’ve probably heard her on CBC’s “Just for Laughs” and “Laugh Out Loud.”

Helen Schneiderman opens for Syd sharing the good, the bad and the ugly to get you laughing. Helen’s comedy draws from her varied life experiences and trips around the globe. She was runner-up in the 2019 BC Funniest New Female Comic contest and was the opening comic for the 2020 “I Am Woman Hear Me Laff” tour and 2022 Chutzpah Festival.

Opening the night is Michelle Hart, a two-time recipient of the Pat & Tony Freedom Fund, Outstanding Sketch/Improv Productions from My Entertainment Weekly, and was featured on JFL42 Sirius FX Just For Laughs Festival. She has worked as a cast member for MSC Seaside, The Second City, and Bad Dog Theatre Feature Players.

Trail & District Arts Council & Kootenay Concert Connection present a highly entertaining musical potpourri for the holidays, blending traditional MacNeil family favourites, from Christmas ceilidhs to midnight masses, with the general festive frolic that accompanies each holiday season.

With their captivating vocals, distinctive harmonies and extraordinary musicianship, The Barra MacNeils inject new life and energy into the sights and sounds of Christmas. Fans can look forward to classic favourites including “O Holy Night”, “Ave Maria”, “Christmas in Killarney” and “Auld Lang Syne”, where a rousing chorus may be followed by a hauntingly beautiful Gaelic ballad, then a flurry of foot-stomping instrumentals accompanied by step-dancing revelry.

So, join the Barra MacNeils this Christmas for their own spin on traditional seasonal fare, along with entertaining stories and new musical twists for a delightful seasonal celebration!

Sunday, March 30 at 3 pm, The Myrtle Sisters - Same Same Different. The Myrtle Sisters were so alike that they could hardly tell themselves apart. Until one day, through an unexpected series of calamities, each sister’s secret uniqueness was revealed! Will they still belong if their differences are discovered? A live music and dance spectacle about self-expression and celebrating differences with charm, shenanigans, surprises and mishaps in an outrageously fun experience.

Sunday, April 27 at 3:00 pm, Will and Seeka - Friends with Everyone. An engaging and educational musical show using sing-along choruses in English and French, and actions and movement, in songs about colours, days of the week, weather, food, animals, family and friends, the alphabet and more. Brought to you by nationally recognised children’s educators Will Stroet of Will’s Jams and Seeka of Seeka Sings. Kids will leave the show with these joyous songs in their hearts and a skip in their step.

Thurs. Oct. 24: Jeremy Ledbetter Trio: Contemporary jazz from the boundary pushing trio of JUNO Award winner Jeremy Ledbetter, Grammy-winning drummer Larnell Lewis of Snarky Puppy and renowned electric bassist Rich Brown.

Thurs. Nov. 28: Nelson Jazz Collective featuring Mike Fahie: This stellar ensemble of Mike Rud on guitar, David Restivo on piano, Rob Fahie on bass, Joel Fountain on drums, and special guest NYC based Mike Fahie on trombone, will play music composed and curated by Mike.

Thurs. Dec. 12: Rick Lingard Jazzified Christmas: – Rick Lingard, Mike Rud, Dave Restivo, Steve Parrish, and Doug Stephenson warm your season with a “Jazzified Christmas” of old seasonal favorites and originals with a jazzy, funky twist.

Thurs. Feb. 13: Laura Landsberg: That’s Amore! Songs about Love, Anti Love, & The Stuff In Between: Laura Landsberg shares her versatility and musical prowess as she explores the many layers of love and lust with Dave Restivo, Jill McKenna, Paul Landsberg, and Joel Fountain.

Thurs. Mar. 27: Melody Diachun & Friends: Up Jumped Swing: Springtime Jazz in Bloom: Experience the vibrant sounds of spring through fresh interpretations of perennial songs that embody renewal and celebration. Melody, is joined by Kiyoshi Elkuf, Mike Rud, Doug Stephenson, and Tony Ferraro.

Sat. Apr. 12: Blue Moon Marquee: JUNO Award Winners Blue Moon Marquee are influenced by anything that swings, jumps or grooves. Badlands Jass plays upright bass and a foot drum kit, singing in honey-dipped tones as A.W. Cardinal’s distinctive and soulful vocals accompany his guitar for the swinging energy of jazz-tinged blues.
