Trail & District Arts Council and The Royal Theatre present The Shining at the Silver Screen Drive-In.
“All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy” so head down to the Silver Screen Drive-in on Saturday, September 11 at 8:00 pm for classic horror in “The Shining”!
“Here’s Johnny!” A family heads to an isolated hotel for the winter where a sinister presence influences the father into violence, while his psychic son sees horrific forebodings from both past and future. The 1980s horror classic, based on a Stephen King bestseller, “The Shining” follows Jack Torrance (Jack Nicholson) as he becomes winter caretaker at the isolated Overlook Hotel in Colorado, hoping to cure his writer’s block and escape his alcohol problem. Taking along his wife, Wendy (Shelley Duvall), and his son, Danny (Danny Lloyd), who is plagued by psychic premonitions, everything seems Ok at first. But as Jack’s writing goes nowhere and Danny’s visions become more disturbing, Jack discovers the hotel’s dark secrets, and as a snowstorm moves in he begins to unravel into a homicidal maniac hell-bent on terrorizing his family.
Though it deviates from Stephen King’s novel, Stanley Kubrick’s “The Shining” is a chilling journey into madness — exemplified by an unforgettable turn from Jack Nicholson.
