Trail & District Arts Council’s MONDAY CINEMA presents Dumb Money at The Royal Theatre, 1597 Bay Avenue in Trail on Monday, January 22 at 4 pm.

A ‘David vs. Goliath’ true story about a regular guy, who sank his life savings into GameStop (the video game store) stock in 2021 and posted about it online. When his social posts start blowing up, so does his life and the lives of everyone following him. As a stock tip becomes a movement, everyone gets rich – until the Wall Street billionaires fight back, and both sides find their worlds turned upside down.

Films in the Winter Monday Cinema Series are:

January 8: Who’s Yer Father – In this laugh-out-loud caper, a small-town private investigator is hired by a wealthy seafood buyer to investigate the sale of black market lobster on Prince Edward Island. After joining forces with a scrappy convenience store owner, he uncovers much more than expected.

January 15: Fallen Leaves (Subtitled) – In modern-day Finland, two lonely souls in search of love meet in a karaoke bar. But their path to happiness is beset by obstacles – from lost numbers to wrong addresses, and a charming, stray dog.

January 22: Dumb Money – In this subversively funny ‘David vs. Goliath’ true story, a regular guy, who sank his life savings into GameStop (the video game store) stock in 2021 and posted about it online, makes his followers rich and Wall Street billionaires angry.

January 29: Anatomy of a Fall (Subtitled) – In a remote town in the French Alps, a man is found dead in the snow and his wife is suspected of her husband’s murder, their blind son the only witness.
