The Sounds of America

Tuesday August 16th at 7:30 pm at The Trail United Church

Tickets $20. General Admission. Youth 12 and under are free but must be accompanied by an adult. Masks are recommended but not mandatory.

Performing as a string quartet, La Cafamore presents The Sounds of America featuring American music from the perspecitive of Arkansa native Florence Price and the imagination of Czech visitor Antonin Dvořák. La Cafamore is Carolyn Cameron (violin), Kaito Takeda (violin), Alexis More (viola) and Maria Wang (cello).

Carolyn Cameron is a founding member of La Cafamore and has performed and managed the group for over 10 years. She received her musical training on piano & violin in Saskatoon and has used her knowledge as a performer, teacher, adjudicator and composer. She has been a member of the National Youth Orchestra, the Saskatoon Symphony Orchestra, the Regina Symphony and the Symphony of the Kootenays. Carolyn lives in Rossland.

Maria Wang Born in Taipei, Taiwan, Maria began her musical training on the piano and later on the cello at age 13. After pursuing a Bachelor of Music degree at West Virginia University, Maria moved to Victoria with her family and completed a Master of Music degree in Cello Performance at the University of Victoria in 2014, studying under the tutelage of Pamela Highbaugh-Aloni, the cellist of the renown Lafayette String Quartet. Since then, Maria has been actively teaching at local music programs, including Sooke Music Academy Orchestra, Windstar Music Academy, and Sooke Harmony Project. She also enjoys teaching privately on the cello and beginner piano in Victoria.

Kaito Takeda Based in Victoria, B.C., multi-instrumentalist Kaito Takeda brings his passion for music to many stages. Crossing musical genres, Kai has performed with various ensembles including the Victoria Symphony as well as arranging and performing with his band, Auburn Blind, and string quartet, Breakwater Quartet. He has recently found a passion in copyist work as well as enjoying the challenges that come with the precision necessary to work as a session musician for film scores and albums.

Violist, Alexis More was raised in Victoria B.C. where she studied Violin and then Viola, continuing at University of Victoria where she was a member of the Victoria Chamber Orchestra. In addition to teaching at the Sunrise Waldorf School in Cowichan Valley, she is an active freelance musician playing with the Victoria Chamber Orchestra and the Sooke Philharmonic. Alexis lives in Victoria and is a founding member of La Cafamore.

Two 45 minute set with15min intermission. Doors open 30 minutes before show time. Tickets can be picked up at the door on show night. Or at the Bailey Theatre Box Office in July & August on Tues, Wed, Thurs between 12 – 4 pm. Ring the buzzer to the left of our Cedar Street entrance. Or call 250-368-9669. Tickets purchased through the Bailey Box office can be picked up at the box office before the show, or at the Trail United Church door on show night.
