Trail and District Arts Council presents Kootenay Savings Music in the Park Paula Neder with opening act Penny Shades on Thursday August 10th at 6:15 pm at Gyro Park, Trail.
The Trail & District Arts Council is very excited to get the community back together this Summer at Gyro Park for Music in The Park. With eleven shows and two acts per night, from June 22 to August 31, it’s the perfect opportunity for all the family to get together outside and listen to great live music.
This season we have a great mix of music from local favourites to touring talent!
On August 10 Penny Shades a five-piece alt-soul group with modern grooves and pychedelic flair, starts off the evening, before Argentinian solo artist Paula Neder mixes Latin American folk music with pop and rock roots.
Penny Shades is a five-piece alt-soul group from Nelson making original music that features 3-part harmonies and dynamic and rich vocals. Swoon over arrangements of warm rhythm guitars, swift gospel keys, jazz-influenced bass lines, and R&B-flavoured back beats. The sound is firmly rooted in Modern Soul & R&B, but draws influences from Indie, Pop, Urban and Western music.
Paula Neder is an author, composer, music producer, and teacher. Winner of the Buenos Aires Youth Art Biennial 2015, she has shared worked with well known musicians around the world including Natalia Lafourcade (Mexico), Rosana, Ismael Serrano (Spain), Susana Baca (Peru), Marta Gómez (Colombia), Martín Buscaglia, Ana Prada (Uruguay), Déborah Dixon (Costa Rica), Yusa ( Cuba), and Lito Vitale & Juan Carlos Baglietto (Argentina), among others.
Her first album “Caleidoscopio” and second album “Illa” were both selected as “Records of the Year” (2015 and 2016) by the renowned music journalist Gabriel Plaza, for Diario La Nación. Also winning both “Uno Escenario” awards as “Best Female Artist album” and “Best Production”.
2022 finds her in the process of producing music for records by other artists, together with the Colombian musician and music producer, Alejo García, they run “La Jaguara Records” in Medellín.
Bring a lawn chair. Admission is by donation – $3 minimum suggested. Or support the Trail Arts Council’s programming by buying a Season Pass for the whole summer for $50! Passes will be available soon.
As part of Music in the Park 2023 we will once again be collaborating with Trail’s Incredible Farmers Market. Our two Night Markets on July 20 and August 17 are awesome events that bring the community together with Music, Food, Beer Garden and Farmers Market. So much fun in Gyro Park.
