A place of serene beauty is threatened by cynical urban developers in "Evil Does Not Exist", the exquisite film by Ryûsuke Hamaguchi (“Drive My Car”) tomorrow, Monday, November 25 at 4 pm at The Royal Theatre in Trail.

Takumi and his eight-year-old daughter Hana live in a forested region of Japan that’s remained largely untouched by large-scale development. Until a “glamping” project is proposed. During the briefing, local people warn of the potential risks, from fire hazards to inadequate septic tanks, but the blank responses from the agents make it clear that the plan will to move ahead regardless of whether locals approve.

Shifting between opposing environments and viewpoints, the latest from the Oscar-nominated director reveals the hidden potential for transformation on both sides of a fraught power dynamic.

Ô-Celli plays "Fait Son Cinema" at The Bailey The

Ô-Celli plays "Fait Son Cinema" at The Bailey Theatre next Saturday, November 30 at 7:30 pm.

This program is a return in time for Belgian-based Ô-Celli as the very first arrangement conceived for the ensemble was "Also sprach Zarathustra" by Richard Strauss, made legendary by the cinema.

As well they will play the "Toccata and Fugue" by Jean-Sébastien Bach with the magnificent arrangement made by Roland Pidoux, which inspired the birth of the ensemble back in 2011.

Enjoy many more great classical pieces form the movies at the show all played with verve and expertise by the 8 cellists.

Writer-director Ryusuke Hamaguchi’s "Evil Does Not Exist", on Monday, November 25 at 4 pm at The Royal Theatre in Trail, is the much anticipated follow-up to the Oscar-winning "Drive My Car".

The film traces the sensitive dispute between residents of a serene rural village and the city-based talent agency whose proposed plans for a luxury camping site threaten their way of life.

Hamaguchi has once again crafted a modern fable with mythic implications springing from the mundane, as it depicts classical themes of nature versus industry.

The delightful biographical comedy-drama “The Gr

The delightful biographical comedy-drama “The Great Escaper” is on for one screening only at 4 pm today, Monday November 18 at 4 pm at the Royal Theatre in Trail.

Sir Michael Caine portrays real-life World War Two veteran Bernard Jordan (known as Bernie), who hit headlines in 2014 for sneaking out of his care home aged 89 to make his own Normandy landing, after failing to get a spot on an organized trip to commemorate the 70th anniversary of D-Day in France.

Written by William Ivory and directed by Oliver Parker, The Great Escaper took inspiration from Bernie and his wife Irene (known as Rene, played by the late Glenda Jackson), who died a week apart from each just months after his daring trip.

The Great Escaper is not a light and breezy comedy caper as audiences might expect, although there are moments of humour.
