Congratulations to Sasha Leithead the winner of th

Congratulations to Sasha Leithead the winner of the Youth Design Award for the Kootenay Art Masks: Tattoo Collection project.

As part of the project a call was put out to 12-18 year olds to create a digitally designed tattoo-style mask. The colourful design from Sasha Leithead stood out.

As Sasha said, “I’m a 16 year old from Rossland. My design features an octopus in a loose reference to a Chinese traditional tattoo style. When I’m doing pen and ink an octopus seems to be my default, I love the intricacy and flow of them. I have always loved doing art, but only in the last 3 years have I begun to take it more seriously. In the future, I aspire to become a writer and illustrate my own books.”

Kootenay Art Masks: Tattoo Collection is a partnership between the Trail & District Arts Council and @visacgallery to create stylish face masks that feature designs by some of your favourite West Kootenay tattoo artists.

These high quality masks designed by Sasha, @alexinthemoon, @sylvielesylvie of @strangesocietytattoos, and @joshgatten of Divine Alchemy Tattoos give stylish buyers a way to support the arts, while protecting themselves and others.

Masks can be bought for $15 for one, or get one of each of the 4 designs for only $50!
