A powerful celebration of music from the African D A powerful celebration of music from the African Descent / Black experience "Ebony Roots The Concert", traces a 300-year journey from spirituals and work songs to the rise of Blues, Soul, R&B, and Motown. One performance only at The Bailey Theatre this Wednesday, Feb. 25 at 7:30 pm.

This concert honours the legacy of artists whose music shaped culture, resistance, and liberation across North America, including:
Sister Rosetta Tharpe • Jimi Hendrix • Stevie Wonder • Nina Simone • Marion Williams • BB King • Marvin Gaye • Oscar Peterson • Billie Holiday • Sam Cooke • Mavis Staples • Paul Robeson
…and the anonymous voices behind the spirituals and work songs that carried generations forward.

The show also shines a light on Vancouver/BC change-makers whose impact deserves to be celebrated:
The Crump Twins • Bobby Taylor and the Vancouvers • Jayson Hoover

✨ This is more than a concert—it’s a living timeline of artistry, resilience, and cultural influence—led by Black artists.

This project was produced by Brandon Thornhill with support from Vancouver's own award-winning company, @soundthealarmmt
